This fantastic fundraising event, organised by our Fundraising Committee, has raised over £9000.
The day was officially opened by retired Paralympian Gold Medallist Peter Hull MBE and Lady Portal MBE DL (Louisa).
It took place in the stunning grounds of Katie and Simon Browne and included gardening Q&A with Bob McQueen of Hilliers and a selection of plant stalls from nurseries across Hampshire and a variety of garden products, unique gifts and produce. The event was generously sponsored by Cobbs at Winchester.
The atmosphere was no less fun despite the downpour and there were plenty of hot drinks and home-made lunches on hand at the Winchester Go LD Café Marquee.
The community spirit around Winchester Go LD and it’s supporters is so important as often people with a learning disability feel isolated and have fewer chances to take part in leisure or social activities.
We were delighted to bring the Smoothie Bike to the Garden Fair after 2 years in lockdown. The one-wheeled, orange mobile drinks machine provides valuable training and experience – social and work-related skills, promoting independence and boosting self-confidence.
As well as making delicious smoothies with the Smoothie Bike, members were selling T-shirts, T-towels and cards. The stall took over £500 and we are really grateful to everyone for supporting this.
100% of the profit goes back into supporting our members and our activities.
