My name is Emmie and I am a support worker for learning disabilities in Winchester. I support a very independent and wonderful lady called Joanna Suffield. Joanna inspires me every single day and we have made the most out of our lockdown.
We were thinking of things to keep us busy, and we decided we wanted to raise money for a cause very close to our hearts, Winchester Go LD. These wonderful people are not only amazing in general, holding multiple weekly meet ups for adults with learning disabilities in Winchester, but since the Coronavirus came along, they’ve been just wonderful in supporting all their members to make sure they can all stay in touch with their friends through this difficult time.
Joanna and I decided to choose a colour from the rainbow of Jo’s own choice to dye my hair as we have seen so many beautiful rainbows around! Joanna will help me to dye my hair. She could have chosen any of the colours of the rainbow, and she decided she wanted to do bright purple! So, in two weeks time, when the hair dyes arrive, jo and I will be doing a Facebook video and jo will help me to dye my hair live!
We would love for you all to support our crazy escapades by donating as much or as little as you can to raise money for such a wonderful cause. It’s so important for people with learning disabilities to maintain a healthy social network for their mental health, and with the help of Winchester GoLD Joanna has a wonderful social network of friends who show love, support and laughter in times like this, when we need it the most.
Go LD are still running all our groups on line. There is no charge for membership or to join our groups and as a charity we rely on fundraising. We are therefore hugely grateful for all the fundraising and support we are receiving at this time.
