Training Courses
Winchester Go LD helps our members to develop new skills. Learning is an important part of wellbeing (known as developmental wellbeing). Developing new skills is a positive experience – it brings confidence, new opportunities and an increased sense of purpose.
Winchester Go LD provide courses that develop and enhance the daily life skills that enable our members to live as independently and safely as possible. Our cookery course in partnership with Munch CIC is a good example of learning practical skills that help us to be more independent and more healthy.
Winchester Go LD recognises that our members are ‘experts with lived experience’. The transition from trainee to trainer demonstrates the growth, enthusiasm and commitment of each of our members, it also empowers our members by acknowledging their value as experts.
We are keen for our members to share their skills with peers and with public facing organisations so that the barriers faced by people with learning disabilities can be better understood and overcome. Travel with Confidence is a good example of Winchester Go LD members sharing their expertise in train travel with other groups of adults with learning disabilities. We’re very proud of our team for their achievements during this project.
