About the project
Building confidence in train travel
The training course was delivered and created by experts with lived experience of learning disabilities (Winchester Go LD members) for adults with learning disabilities to build confidence when travelling by train.
This project was a collaboration between Winchester Go LD and Hampshire Community Rail Partnership between October 2022 and May 2023.
18 Winchester Go LD members took part to develop new skills in building their confidence with train travel. They have trained 110 people – including their peers, support staff and other local learning disability groups so that more people with learning disabilities can travel by train with confidence.
Training Videos
Winchester Go LD members have co-produced a series of 8 training videos to share their lived experience and top tips for other train travellers. The videos cover topics such as planning your journey, buying a ticket, asking for help, the station, onboard the train and travelling comfortably. They showcase the value that experts through lived experience (Winchester Go LD members) have brought to the project.
