Volunteer with us

Without our volunteers, Winchester Go LD wouldn’t be what it is today. Just a few hours of your time will enable our members to feel strong and confident, to encourage new skills and experiences and for you to gain experience from our members living with a learning disability.

What we offer

The support of a friendly and knowledgeable staff team. Regular one to one meetings and volunteer socials. We ask that our volunteers are 18 years and over.

Specific training and an informative induction for your role as a volunteer with people with learning disabilities. To include safeguarding and an overview of learning disabilities and autism.  We will require you to complete a DBS check which will be free. We also pay our volunteer expenses, as written in our Expenses Policy.

Why volunteer with us?

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, gain experience in the learning disability charity sector, and build contacts and friendships in the Winchester area.  But mostly it is about doing something good and making a difference to people with learning disabilities and autism and – of course – having fun!

Examples of our Volunteer Roles

Fundraising volunteer

Our Fundraising Committee hosts several small events each year and one major event, currently the Garden and Craft Fair in the spring.

As a member of our Fundraising Committee, you would attend about 6 committee meetings each year and assist with planning and setting up our events.

Our fundraising events are great opportunities for us to connect with our supporters and to share information about the fantastic work our small charity achieves.

Our members play a key part in most of our fundraising events.

This is a perfect role for someone with enthusiasm, energy and new ideas to help the charity to continue its valuable work in supporting the learning disability community in the Winchester area.

Weekly volunteer roles

We need volunteers of all sorts of skill sets to participate with our members in a variety of different activities. These include regular fitness sessions online and in person, drop-in sessions at the Arc around well-being, weekly one-to-one sessions with a member (extra training and support given for this role).  We ask that you can commit to several sessions so that we have continuity for our members.

Ad hoc Volunteer roles

Throughout the year we also have lots of events that take place. These can be summer trips, Go socials, exciting events we get invited to…. the list is endless!  We always need volunteers to make sure these go as smoothly as possible, and our members enjoy themselves to the full.
